About this tool
A free audio spectrum analyzer that runs in your browser. Open an audio file or your microphone and it shows you what is in the sound. Point at any spot to see its frequency, the musical note, and how loud it is.
What you can use it for
- Find a hum, buzz or hiss in a recording, and see its exact frequency so you know what to cut.
- Work out the notes of a melody or a bass line.
- Check whether a sung note stays in tune.
- Save a picture of what you found to show someone else.
Your audio stays on your device
Files are opened by your own browser. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and there is nothing to install. Close the tab and it is gone.
We do count visits and which features get used, such as how many files are opened each day. No cookies, and nothing that says who you are.
What it does not do
- It opens one file at a time.
- Files over 30 MB show frequencies up to about 11 kHz, so they fit in the browser’s memory.
- It is not made for measuring a room. A phone app is better for that.
